What Escourtly is
Escourtly lets you record interactive demos of your own product and share them as a link. It has two parts: the web app at escourtly.com and a Chrome extension that captures the recording.
What the Chrome extension collects
The extension records only while you are actively recording — recording starts and stops exclusively on your explicit action. During a recording, for each click it captures:
- a screenshot of the visible page,
- a copy of the page’s HTML at that moment (so the demo can be replayed interactively),
- the page URL, the click position, and the clicked element’s size and position.
This captured content is uploaded to your Escourtly account and stored so you can edit and share it. You should only record pages you have the right to share. Captured pages may contain information visible on your screen — the editor provides tools to edit and redact content before publishing.
The extension reads your escourtly.com session cookie for one purpose: authenticating uploads to your own account. It does not read cookies from any other site, does not track your browsing, and sends nothing anywhere when you are not recording.
What the web app collects
- Account data: name, email, and authentication credentials (passwords are hashed; Google sign-in is handled by Google).
- Your demos: the recordings described above, plus the edits you make.
- Billing: handled by Polar; we never see or store card numbers.
- Viewer analytics on published demos: view counts, step progress, and referrer — no viewer accounts, no viewer PII.
- Leads: if you turn on lead capture, the details a viewer chooses to submit in your demo’s form (name, email, company, phone). They belong to you, and are sent only to the integrations you connect (such as Attio, Folk, Loops or your own webhook).
Connected apps (MCP server)
You can connect apps such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code to your account through the Escourtly MCP server. A connected app works as you: it can only read and change your own demos, analytics and leads, through the same permission checks as the editor. Nothing is shared until you approve the app on our sign-in screen.
- We send a connected app only what it asks for to do the task you gave it, and the app handles that data under its own privacy policy.
- We store the app’s name, when you connected it, when it was last active, and the tokens that keep it signed in. Access tokens expire after an hour.
- API keys you create are shown once and stored only as a fingerprint.
- You can disconnect an app or revoke a key at any time under Developers → MCP server. A revoked key stops working on its next request; a disconnected app gets no new access, and any session it already has open ends within an hour.
Where data lives
Demo content is stored in our database (Neon, EU region) and object storage (Cloudflare R2). Published demos are publicly accessible to anyone with the link — that is their purpose. Draft demos are only accessible from your account.
Deletion
Deleting a demo removes it from your account immediately. A deleted step can be restored for 30 days, then it is removed. Deleting your account removes your account data and demos. You can do both from the app, or email us at the address below.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell your data.
- We don’t record anything without your explicit action.
- The extension doesn’t collect browsing history.
