Turn a draft into a public link, understand what publishing freezes, and update a live demo safely.
Drafts and published demos
Every recording starts as a draft: only you can see it, and you can edit it freely. When it's ready, you publish. Publishing does two things:
- It makes your share link public at
demo.escourtly.com/your-demo-id. - It freezes a copy of the demo, exactly as it looks right now.
That frozen copy is what viewers see. You can keep editing the draft afterwards without affecting the live version, then publish again when the next round of changes is ready.
Edits do not go live until you publish again
This trips people up once and never again: if you add a blur or fix a typo after publishing, the share link keeps showing the old version until you press Publish again. Deliberate edits, deliberate releases.
Publishing
Open your demo in the editor
From the dashboard, click the demo you want to publish.
Review it in preview
Use the preview to click through the demo exactly as a viewer would. Check annotations, hotspot placement, and anything that needs blurring.
Press Publish
The Publish button lives in the editor's top bar. Publishing requires a Pro plan; see Plans for what's included.
Sharing the link
Your published demo lives at a clean, stable URL. Where it shines:
Landing pages
Let visitors try the product before signing up. Embed it right in the hero.
Cold outreach
A prospect who clicks through your demo has already had their first product experience.
Changelogs and launches
Announce a feature with a walkthrough of the feature, not a paragraph about it.
Support and onboarding
Answer how-do-I questions with a link that shows, instead of text that tells.
Viewers need no account and no extension. The demo runs in any modern browser, and every view is counted in your analytics.
Taking a demo offline
Taking a demo offline simply means hiding it from the public. You can take a demo offline by either :
- unpublishing it: Demo still live in your account, but only you can see, edit and even preview it.
- Deleting it: Deleting a demo removes it and its share link permanently, along with all captured content.
From the Dashboard demo page, you can click on the Unpublish button and the demo's status would be draft, or you could click on the delete icon to complete delete it.
