Edit content
Change the actual words, images, and logos on a captured page. Real edits to the page itself, not overlays, with nothing re-recorded.
Blur hides things and annotations point at them, but sometimes you need to change what the page says. A stale headline, a test account's name in the corner, a placeholder logo where a prospect's should be. Edit content lets you change the real text and images of the captured page, in place, without touching the original recording.
This is different from every other tool. Blur, hotspots, and annotations sit on top of the step. Content edits change the page's own text and images.
Turning it on
Select a step, then click Edit content in the toolbar. A blue bar appears above the canvas: Click any text, image, or logo to change it. Click Done when you're finished.
Your capture is never overwritten
Every edit is stored beside the original capture, never in it. So an edit is always reversible, and switching a step to the Image render never loses your work. Think of the capture as a negative and your edits as a print you can always redo.
Editing text
Click the text
With Edit content on, click any piece of text. It becomes editable right where it sits and the cursor lands where you clicked.
Type your change
Rewrite it, fix a typo, swap a name. Icons and formatting around the text stay put — you're only changing the words.
Click away to save
Click elsewhere or press Esc. The edit is recorded and shows in the edit count on the bar.
Replacing images and logos
Click an image — or a logo, even when it's drawn as an inline vector — and a small toolbar appears over it:
- Replace — upload a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or GIF (up to 5 MB). It swaps in at the original's size, so a differently-shaped logo can't push the layout around. Perfect for dropping a prospect's logo into the demo.
- Hide — remove an element that shouldn't appear, like a banner or a row. It's hidden, not deleted, so reverting brings it back.
Applying an edit to every step
Most walkthroughs repeat the same shell across steps — a sidebar, a top bar, a company name in the corner. Change it once and apply it everywhere.
After you make an edit, a prompt offers Apply to all steps. You'll also find it on each edit in the list (open the edit count on the bar). Escourtly finds the same element on every other step and applies the change there too; steps where the element genuinely differs are skipped, and it tells you how many were covered.
Undoing edits
Open the edit count on the blue bar to see every change you've made on the step. Each one has:
- All steps — promote a single-step edit to every step (see above).
- Revert (the ✕) — undo just that edit. Revert a shared edit and it's undone across every step at once.
Or use Revert all on the bar to clear a step back to its original capture.
Content edits and render mode
Content edits live in the HTML render — the real, interactive capture. The Image render is a screenshot taken at record time, before any editing existed, so it can't show your edits. If a step has edits and you switch it to Image, the toolbar shows an "N edits hidden" note. Your edits are safe; they reappear the moment you switch back to HTML. Details in Editor overview.
Publish again after editing
A published demo is a frozen copy. Make your content edits, then press Publish again so they reach the live link. See Publish and share.
Make it personal
Content edits become far more powerful with variables: type {{firstName}} into the text and the same demo greets every recipient by name from the share link.
