Why I built Escourtly

You built something that works, and it’s good. The hard part is getting a stranger to believe that before they’ve given you anything: no sign-up, no call, no time. I kept running into that wall as a founder, and every tool I reached for made it worse in its own way.

The three ways we show a product, and why they fail

Screenshots don't convince anyone

A picture of your dashboard says nothing about whether the product works. Everyone has seen polished screenshots of things that never shipped, so nobody trusts them.

“Book a demo” kills momentum

The moment you ask someone to schedule a call, you lose half of them. They weren't ready to give you thirty minutes. They wanted a quick look, right now.

Loom videos are passive

A video makes people watch. It doesn't let them explore. They sit through the parts that matter to you, in your order, at your pace, and most of them leave before the good part.

The Loom problem, up close

For a long time my answer was a Loom. Record the product, paste the link into a cold message, feel productive. Then I looked at the view analytics: most people stopped watching around the forty percent mark. I’d built my videos like most demos are built, context first and the good part later, so most viewers never saw the part I wanted them to see.

Shorter videos, better hooks and captions moved the numbers a little, never enough. The real problem wasn’t the editing. A video asks for someone’s full attention for as long as it runs, and it only shows what I chose to show. On a live call, the prospect can say “go back” or “what happens if I click that?” A video can’t answer. I wrote the whole story here.

The first version failed

I launched the first Escourtly on February 6th, 2026. It was a tool for adding product guides inside your app, sold to solo founders and small startups. By March it had zero users and zero revenue.

The idea wasn’t bad; the audience was wrong. Solo founders spend weeks making their product simple enough that nobody needs a guide. I was selling umbrellas in the desert. What those same founders did need was a way to show their product to people who hadn’t signed up yet. Here’s how that went.

What Escourtly is now

Escourtly is the easiest way to show your product to someone before they sign up. You click through your real product once with the Chrome extension. Escourtly saves each step, you tidy it up in the editor, and you get one link.

Your prospect opens it and clicks through your product at their own pace. They spend time on what matters to them and skip what doesn’t. No account, no download, no call. You paste the link in a tweet, a cold email or your landing page, and go do something else while they explore. You can even see where they stop.

The replies changed when I switched. Instead of “looks interesting, might sign up later”, I got “the step where you showed X is exactly my problem”. Those are people who used the product, not people who sat through a video of it.

Who’s behind it

I’m Iroro Chadere. I design, build and support Escourtly, and I write the blog, including the comparisons with other demo tools. When you email support, you reach me.

Email support@escourtly.com or find me on X (@iroro_chad). If you record a demo and something breaks, tell me. I’d genuinely like to hear it.
